How I got here
CV · 06 stages · 24 years across disciplines
Today I build software, AI tools and interactive 3D. I got here through electrical work, offshore commissioning, teaching and building simulators. Each step added something I needed to learn: hydraulics, circuit boards, code, cloud services. That part has stayed fairly consistent. The projects keep changing.
012002–2007Industry and offshore
Electrician
I started as an apprentice and earned my electrical trade certificate. Industrial wiring, networks, fire and gas systems, and later offshore equipment taught me to trace a fault and understand the system around it.

Offshore commissioning
At shipyards in South Korea, I started and tested cranes, adjusted PLC software and troubleshot sensors and hydraulics. Later I led commissioning with a colleague on the opposite rotation. Our team commissioned about 100 cranes.

PR-2012-01
A second life for an old lifeboat
An electric conversion reuses the original shaft and propeller, with a battery box built under the floor.

PR-2007-01
Commissioning offshore cranes in South Korea
Hands-on commissioning brought together control software, electrical systems and hydraulics, one crane at a time.
032014–2019Technical training and product development
Teaching, then building the teaching tools
Teaching operators and maintenance crews led to building better training equipment: portable simulators, custom controls and a working classroom crane. I learned CAD, electronics, fabrication and embedded programming by making the tools the courses needed.

PR-2018-01
A pallet-sized training simulator became a portable kit that fits in two suitcases.

PR-2017-02
A real crane, sized for a classroom
A 100 kg training crane combines custom parts, electrical assembly and PLC software adapted to the smaller geometry.

PR-2015-01
Real controls for a portable simulator
A custom armrest combines printed parts, electronics and software-driven button layouts for different crane simulations.
042017–2018RFID attendance systems
A company on the side
A business partner and I started a company to replace manual attendance registration with a card tap. We built three touchscreen stations, the server and reporting tools. I learned Java along the way; the first systems were delivered in about six weeks.

Software, 3D and XR
Simulator work opened the door to interactive 3D, cloud streaming and web development. I built tools for training, product demonstrations and navigation, then explored ways to turn camera footage and older image data into 3D models people could inspect in a browser.

A 3D inspection from 360° video
A camera lowered into a shaft produces a 3D model that can be inspected and measured in a browser.

PR-2024-03
A new view of an older 3D dataset
An older photogrammetry dataset becomes a Gaussian splat model that can be explored in the browser.

AI and software in practice
I build AI agents and web applications, set up platforms with clear data and access rules, and run workshops around real work. Recent projects include searching scanned manuals and helping teams choose which AI ideas are worth trying. I also test local models on my own hardware.

Something worth figuring out?
Learning by doing. Doing quite a lot.
I build software, AI tools and interactive 3D, with a background in commissioning, technical training and product development. My work ranges from document-search pilots and public-sector platforms to simulator controls and measurable 3D models. I like understanding the whole problem, learning what is missing, and building something people can use.
